Edgar Bedard – Legion of Honour
Cpl. Edgar Bedard, 90, was presented his medal, rank of Knight of the French National Order of the Legion of Honour, by Allan Fell former president of 432 Royal Canadian Air Force (Algoma) of The Air Force Association of Canada at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, Sault Ste. Marie on December 5th. Ed Bedard is believed to be the first of two Sault veterans to receive the honour. He was nominated for the award by Allan Fell. “It’s quite an honour to be recognized,” said Ed. The Coniston native served with The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa and landed on Juno Beach on D-Day as part of a Bren gun carrier crew.
