Pte Claude Nunney, VC

Nunney Pte Claude

Pte Claude Nunney was awarded the Victoria Cross while serving with the 38th Bn during WWI.

Pte Nunney was born in Hastings, Sussex, England in 1892 and emigrated to Canada as a young boy. He was awarded the VC for actions along the Drocourt-Queant Line.

As part of the 100th anniversary of the start of the war, the UK will be honouring the more than 400 WWI Victoria Cross recipients who were born in the UK by placing engraved paving stones in their birthplaces.

A stone will be placed in Hastings in memory of Pte Nunney.
