70th Annual Reunion Weekend a great success!

The 70th Annual Reunion Weekend was a great success with over 40 attending the Wine and Cheese on Friday night and 172 diners on Saturday night for the main event.

This year’s Mayor’s Award for Community Service was won by a very deserving Sgt R.A. (Rhean) Ongcangco. The award was presented by Councillor Allan Hubley.

The food and comradeship were outstanding as was the music of the Pipes and Drums, especially considering that they were headed to Bermuda early Sunday morning!

Of special note, we had several guests who gathered to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Passchendaele Platoon, Summer Recruit Training Program (SRTP), 1980:

  • Vic Weatherall

Chris won the “Distant Diner” award with Doug a close second, both coming from Alberta.

A special thank you to Gwyn Nicholson who honchoed the Wine and Cheese and Cpl. Brian Kells who performed admirably as our dinner MC.
